Assassin

The Assassin closes in under Stealth with a dagger in each hand and looks to end fights in one explosive combo. Per NC it is a cold-blooded assassin who cuts through darkness and approaches unseen with deadly silence. Community skill databases describe a kit built on rear attacks, critical hits and Signet detonation.

Overview

Weapon: two daggers. Role: melee burst DPS. The Assassin opens from Stealth, works behind the target, and stacks Signets that it detonates for burst damage and stuns. Per NC it is a cold-blooded assassin who cuts through darkness and approaches unseen with deadly silence. Pick it if you like fast, positional melee with a real execution ceiling; skip it if you want a tanky frontline or a simple rotation.

Confirmed (NC): weapon, role and the one-line description, from NC's official class showcase (aion2.plaync.com). Everything else on this page comes from community guides and databases and is unconfirmed until checked in-game. All eight classes are open to both Elyos and Asmodian and to both genders (no gender lock).

Strengths

  • Exceptional single-target burst — October 2026 community tier lists already put Assassin at or near the top of the damage charts
  • Stealth openers and rear-attack bonuses reward planning and map awareness
  • Signet stacking feeds a detonation finisher with a stun attached — burst and disruption in one
  • Most of the kit adds Groggy gauge damage, so you pull your weight when groups stagger bosses
  • Real defensive tools for a squishy class: an evasion-counter attack, a guaranteed-evasion stigma and a full CC-break

Strengths follow NC's published role plus the kit described across community databases (6sword, cross-checked against u4gm and launch-month tier lists). The tier-list claim is a snapshot of launch-month community opinion, not a verified fact.

Weaknesses

  • Fragile — low defense and HP; caught in the open, you die fast
  • Positional damage — fight from the front and your core bonuses do nothing
  • Crit-dependent — Heart Stab and several passives only trigger on critical hits
  • Stealth is an opener, not an escape: community databases report it cannot be entered in combat and drops the moment you fight

Weaknesses are inferred from the kit community databases describe — low mitigation, positional and crit gating — plus launch-month tier-list commentary. None of it is verified in the live client yet.

Sourced from 6sword's class database, which translates NC's official Korean guidebook, then cross-checked against u4gm, pvpbank and an mmorpg.com launch review. English names are pre-launch fan translations — older community drafts called Heart Stab Heart Gore and Signets Insignia stacks — so expect the live client to differ in places. Unlock levels, cooldowns and damage values are deliberately not listed: no verified numbers exist yet.

Playstyle & Rotation

Your job is to open on your terms, work the back, and turn stacked Signets into a kill. Community guides describe the solo loop like this:

  1. Open unseen — Shadow Walk out of combat, walk to the target, then Ambush to teleport behind it with a spin-and-stun chance.
  2. Hit the back — Surprise Attack gains damage from behind, and Ambush or Infiltration reposition you if the target turns.
  3. Stack Signets — run the Beast's Roar chain to engrave Signets, which slow the target's combat speed and cannot be dispelled.
  4. Spend your crits — Heart Stab lights up on critical hits and refunds MP; the Phantom Clone stigma removes its cooldown for a window.
  5. Detonate — Signet Burst converts stacks into an area burst with a stun chance that scales with how many you stacked.
  6. Close out — Storm Flurry when the target goes Groggy, Whirlwind Slash to counter the instant you dodge, Shock Release to break CC used on you.

Multiple mobs are not your field. Signet Burst splashes around your target and the Raid Onset stigma blinds groups, but community guides agree the class trades AoE for single-target murder — mark one target, kill it, move to the next. In packs, look for stunned targets: Shadow Drop knocks down anything currently stunned.

Group Role

You are the group's delete button. A tank holds the target still, you live behind it, and bosses die faster because most of your kit also feeds the Groggy gauge that staggers them.

  • Dungeon job: stick to the priority target in Nightmare Dungeons and other endgame content — burst phases and Groggy windows are yours
  • Positioning: the rear of the target, always; save Ambush and Infiltration to recover position when aggro swings
  • Synergy: tanks and aggro-holders give you a stable back to attack, healers cover your low HP pool, and your stuns and blinds peel adds off the group

Leveling 1-45

Season 1 caps at level 45, and stigma slots open at 22, 27, 32 and 37 — that is where Stealth and the rest of your toolkit come online.

  • Levels 1-21 feel like a fast but plain dagger class: back-attack bonuses first, Signets and crit triggers as skills arrive
  • The biggest spikes are the crit passives (community databases list Exploiting the Opening and Raid Stance) and the Signet finisher completing the loop
  • Grind with the Ambush-into-Surprise-Attack habit now — endgame muscle memory starts in the low levels
  • From 22, community leveling guides lean the first stigma slots toward mobility or Stealth for speed

Stats & Gear

PriorityStatWhyStatus
1Critical HitThe kit gates on crits — Heart Stab, clone procs and crit-damage passives all want themUnconfirmed
2Attack / Combat SpeedDaggers scale with speed and raw attack; fast hits mean more crit chances and more SignetsUnconfirmed
3Back-attack damageRear bonuses are the class identity — community build roundups list back-attack damage as a gear statUnconfirmed
4AccuracyMissed crits are wasted crits; endgame bosses demand hit consistencyUnconfirmed

Priorities are aggregated from October 2026 community build guides (mmoexp, playerauctions, mythic-store) and are not verified against the live client — no caps or breakpoints are quoted because none are verified. Community meta also notes Assassin scales unusually well with a top-enhanced weapon: the class rewards investment, which is worth knowing before you commit to it.

PvP

Assassin is a launch-month PvP favorite — October 2026 community tier lists rate it strongly in the Abyss and Arena, and pick potential is the reason. You stalk, you open, something dies.

  • Stealth sets up the pick: Shadow Walk out of combat, Ambush in, then chain the stun line — Ambush spin, Signet Burst stun, Shadow Drop knockdown — before the target reacts
  • Your escape plan matters more than your opener — Evasion Stance (guaranteed evasion) and Shock Release (CC break) are how you survive the counter-swap
  • Dagger of Triniel adds cooldown pressure to every skill the target has and hits harder from behind — community databases flag it as a PvP stigma
  • In Battlefield and large Abyss fights, do not frontline: pick stragglers, kill squishies, reset — you are a scalpel, not a line holder

PvP reads come from October 2026 community tier lists and build guides, all unconfirmed and likely to shift with balance patches. The stealth rules (out of combat only) are from community skill databases and may differ in the live client.
