Overview

Weapon: bow. Role: ranged physical DPS. The Ranger kills from outside melee reach and controls the space in between — community guides cite roughly 20m of working range — using traps, slows and roots to keep it that way. Per NC it is a quiet hunter who commands the battlefield with a single, decisive shot. Pick it if you like kiting, timing charged shots and setting the terms of every fight; skip it if you want to stand still and turret.

Confirmed (NC): weapon, role and the one-line description, from NC's official class showcase (aion2.plaync.com). Everything else on this page comes from community guides and databases and is unconfirmed until checked in-game. All eight classes are open to both Elyos and Asmodian and to both genders (no gender lock).

Strengths

  • Reliable damage at full range — you contribute without stepping into melee, which keeps you alive through mechanics that punish melee
  • A real control kit: slows, roots, traps and a point-blank knockback let you dictate engagement range
  • The Precision state rewards timing — crit-fishing turns good shot selection into damage
  • Comfortable solo and safe in groups; community guides call it a forgiving first ranged pick
  • Party-friendly utility — community guides credit an attack-buff stigma and strong add control

Strengths follow NC's published role plus the kit described across community databases and guides (6sword, u4gm, khaganate). The 20m range figure is a community number, not an NC-published one.

Weaknesses

  • Fragile up close — if a melee class sticks to you, your options shrink fast
  • Charge shots and traps are telegraphed; interrupted or wasted cooldowns are punished hard
  • Big AoE arrows sit on long cooldowns, so pack clears come in waves rather than a stream (u4gm)
  • Output hinges on positioning and Precision uptime — sloppy movement shows up in your damage immediately

Weaknesses are inferred from the kit community databases describe and from u4gm's launch-month guide. None of it is verified in the live client yet.

Sourced from 6sword's class database, which translates NC's official Korean guidebook, then cross-checked against u4gm and pvpbank build guides — Griffon Arrow, Piercing Arrow and Marking Arrow appear in at least two of the three. Translations split on some names: u4gm lists Arrow Rain, Silence Arrow and Baseel Power where databases list Arrow Storm, Sealing Arrow and Vaizel's Power, and older drafts called the charged shots Deadshot. No numbers are quoted because none are verified.

Playstyle & Rotation

Ranger play is a rhythm: keep distance, keep Precision up, and turn crits into more damage. Community guides describe the solo loop like this:

  1. Open at range with the Snipe - Rapid Fire - Spiral Arrow combo; it restores the MP the rest of the rotation spends.
  2. Fire Marking Arrow on cooldown — it damages, repositions you and refreshes the Precision state that boosts your crits.
  3. Fish for crits — Piercing Arrow answers a critical hit with area damage, a heal-cutting Bleed and MP back.
  4. Spend charge windows — Gale Arrow for its combat-speed state, Aimed Arrow while Precision is up for the bigger hit.
  5. Control what closes in — Snare Arrow to slow, Explosive Trap where they will step, Rupture Arrow for bonus damage on slowed or rooted targets.
  6. Finish staggered targets with Arrow Barrage when they go Groggy; Shock Release if something locks you down.

For packs, Quick Shot splashes around your target and traps zone the approach. Community guides save the big stigma AoE — Arrow Storm or Assault Smash — for stacked groups, and Point-blank Shot knocks back anything that reaches you. Your job in chaos stays the same: slow the front, kill the back line.

Group Role

You are the group's ranged damage and soft control. The tank holds the middle, you hold the outside, and everything that tries to cross gets slowed, rooted or detonated on a trap.

  • Dungeon job: free damage on targets the melee cannot safely reach, plus add control — slows and traps keep packs off the healer
  • Positioning: max range with clear sightlines; community guides stress controlling angles so you always have a lane to shoot and a lane to escape
  • Synergy: pairs with aggro-holders who keep enemies centered, and community guides credit attack buffs (Vaizel's Power, also called Baseel Power) that make you a support-flavored DPS

Leveling 1-45

Season 1 caps at level 45, and stigma slots open at 22, 27, 32 and 37 — that is where the traps, buffs and utility stigmas come online.

  • Levels 1-21 are straightforward bow play: the base combo, a slow and a trap carry you through the story
  • The rotation clicks together when the Precision tools arrive — Marking Arrow, Aimed Arrow and crit-triggered Piercing Arrow
  • Kite while you grind now; the habit is the class at 45
  • From 22, community leveling guides lean stigmas toward damage (Griffon Arrow) or safety (Stealth) depending on how confidently you kite

PvP

Ranger's PvP identity is range discipline: in the Abyss and Arena you win the fight before it starts — the enemy slowed, rooted or silenced on the approach. Community guides are split on where Ranger lands in launch-month PvP, but they agree on the shape: strong when you control range, dead when you lose it.

  • Vs melee: Snare Arrow, Explosive Trap and the Point-blank Shot knockback are your spacing tools, and Rupture Arrow punishes anyone you slowed
  • Vs casters: guides rate the seal arrow (Sealing Arrow in databases, Silence Arrow on u4gm) as a duel-winner — it shuts down a caster's answer
  • The Stealth stigma is for scouting and ambushing in open-world Abyss — it breaks on combat, so use it to pick the spot, not to escape
  • Terrain is a skill: u4gm's PvP tips stress high ground and corners to control your sightlines and escape routes

PvP notes are from October 2026 community guides (u4gm, khaganate) and tier-list commentary — all unconfirmed and likely to shift with balance patches.
