Leveling Route

A practical 1–45 route for the Global client: follow the yellow Episode quests, step away only when the story is gated, and fill the gates with regional content. Exact zone names and breakpoints below are from community route maps and are being verified.

Overview

Keep the main story as your spine. When progress stops, read the requirement before switching activities: a missing quest, an Ascension gauge, and a hard boss each need a different fix. Solve the gate, then return to the story — do not farm low-level mobs to 'catch up'.

  1. Follow the yellow Episode (Main Story) marker everywhere it goes
  2. When the story stops, check what gates it — usually the Ascension gauge
  3. Fill the gauge with green Regional quests and Sealed Dungeons in your current region
  4. Return to the story; repeat to 45
  5. At 45, finish outstanding story and Ascension objectives before touching endgame

This route is synthesised from multiple community leveling guides (October 2026). Zone names, level brackets and the 22/32/45 Ascension breakpoints are community-reported and flagged Unconfirmed until checked in the live client.

Levels 1–15

Levels 1–15 are the easiest stretch and the most skippable-looking — resist the urge to skip. The story walks you through the starter zone (Poeta for Elyos, Ishalgen for Asmodians), the combat tutorial, your first skill chains and your first taste of flight.

  • Follow yellow Main Story quests; they out-XP everything else available
  • Equip new gear as it drops — don't invest Kina in temporary pieces
  • Learn skill timing, positioning and aerial combat now, while mistakes are cheap
  • Complete the tutorial systems the story presents even when they feel optional

This is also where you learn your class's actual rotation, not just its buttons. The game escalates mechanical expectations later (aerial fights, grouped packs, interrupt checks in dungeons) and every guide agrees the 1–45 run doubles as an extended tutorial.

Levels 16–37

From around level 16 the world opens up. Take green Regional quests that overlap your story route (one trip, multiple rewards), but skip any that send you far off for a small payoff. Stigma slots open at 22, 27, 32 and 37 — pick Stigma skills that match your build as they unlock.

  • Stack overlapping Regional quests on your story path
  • Stigma slots unlock at 22 / 27 / 32 / 37 — real build decisions start here
  • Use nearby Sealed Dungeons / Strongholds to close gaps, not to grind
  • Keep the weapon current; armour can wait for drops

The bracket also contains the first Ascension wall (~22) and the second (~32). Each wall is the same routine: check the gauge, fill it with the cheapest regional content, resume the story. If a wall coincides with a Stigma slot unlocking, spend a minute picking the Stigma before pushing on — the right pick speeds up everything after it.

Bracket-by-bracket zone order and Sealed Dungeon picks come from community route maps; the pattern (story spine, gauge fills, dungeon gaps) is the confirmed part.

The Ascension Walls

The story is gated by an Ascension (region progress) gauge at roughly levels 22, 32 and 45. When it blocks you, fill it with green Regional quests, Sealed Dungeons and Strongholds in the region — that also raises your Item Level for the doors ahead. Some community guides call the same regional progress the bar that unlocks your wings.

WallWhat to do
~Level 22Fill the first region's gauge with overlapping Regional quests; pick your first Stigma
~Level 32Same routine, new region — Sealed Dungeons become efficient gauge fills
Level 45Finish story and Ascension objectives before entering endgame systems

The 22 / 32 / 45 Ascension breakpoints and the Regional-quest fix are community-reported (endgametools and others). The underlying gating is widely confirmed; the exact levels are not first-party.

Endgame Prep (Level 45)

Hitting 45 is not the finish line — finish outstanding story and Ascension objectives first, then the level-45 content opens: Nightmare Dungeons, Transcendence, the Ascension Trial, the Abyss (PvP), Arena, Battlefield and the Spacetime Rift. A Daeva Pass and Duties also start at 45. (The Sanctuary Raid was pulled at launch for rework; NC planned to announce its return date by 16 October 2026 — check patch notes.)

  1. Finish remaining Episode quests and Ascension gauges — they gate more than XP
  2. Run the first Nightmare Dungeons to lift Item Level
  3. Start Daeva Pass and Duties so their passive progression begins ticking
  4. Visit the Abyss only once gear can survive it — PvP punishes under-geared arrivals

The gear order at 45 and the daily/weekly caps are covered in the Dungeons and Spending guides.

Leveling Alts

Community reports since launch say alt runs are meaningfully faster once you know the route: you skip exploratory detours, take only the gauge-filling regionals you actually need, and your account-wide knowledge does the rest. Treat any specific 'hours saved' figure as unconfirmed until measured.

  • Knowledge is the main speed-up — the route itself plays the same
  • Class choice changes pace: AoE classes clear packs faster, sustain classes die less
  • Check what actually carries over account-wide before planning an alt army — confirmed details are still thin

Alt-speed claims are thread-level community reporting, not measured data. Verified alt mechanics will land here as they are confirmed.
